Here are some of the great results we are achieving with our Reefscape Australia Aquarium Maintenance team, those we can publish and some of our smaller installs.

Harvey Neale

Harvey Neale has been a client of ours for over a year now his system volume is around 2m3. We have helped him apply many of our natural techniques to his tank and recently built him a live base rock wall. Below is what he had to say about us.

Chris McGown

Chris came to us when his tank looked very sad and we were recommended to him by a local petshop we had helped with their coral sysem display. The stock provided for his tank came from some of the countries best collectors and divers including Australian Coral farms and Cairns Marine. Over a period of six months, we retro fitted our system into this, installing a new ReefOctopus Skimmer, Reefscape Live Base Rock and mud. Here is how it turned out and what Chris had to say.

Aaron McKnight

When we first visited Aarons Aquarium, it was obvious his tank was starving. It showed no signs of bethnic life and corals were starving and dieing weeks after being placed within the system. His sump contained nothing but a skimmer and various filter medias including foam, bio balls and rolled gutter guard being used as a pre-filter. Aaron has every piece of equipment you can mention, Automatic timers, Metal halides, ReefOctopus Protein Skimmer, Tunze pumps, Reverse Osmosis top off... and changed his water regularly.

We re-plumbed his tank - installed Reefscape Live Mud, macro algae and sea grasses into his sump, removed all filter media and left it to sit for three months. On our next return his live rock had started to regenerate - tubeworms were everywhere and some of his remaining corals had made a considerable recovery. There is still a long way to go with his aquarium but this is what it looks like today and what he had to say about us.

Michael Tyrikos - DPM Service Melbourne

Michael was recommended to us by a local retailer and his tank although very well maintained was over stocked and showed little life on any of his live rock. Corals were starving however the fish seemed in very good health. Considering the stocking level his water parameters were not bad - due to his excellent maintenance regime.

We installed Reefscape Live Mud, macro algae and sea grasses into his sump, a Reefscape Live Sand Bed and Reefscape Live Base Rock into his main aquarium, rearranged his plumbing and installed a larger more efficient ReefOctopus Protein Skimmer.

Liana Cornelle

Liana came to us asking for a large private reef aquarium that would require little to no maintenance and be 100% reef safe with nothing being taken from the wild except for the water. This system, volume is 2.2m3. It is fitted with an automatically controlled, ReefOctopus calcium reactor, ReefOctopus protein skimmer, water purified automatic top off system, Reefscape Australia Aquacultured Live Rock, Reefscape Australia Sump and Refugium, Reefscape Australia live mud and lots of water circulation pumps. The progress on this tank is going to be one to watch as nothing will come from the wild except for the occasional fish and water. More soon...

Six weeks on - Taj checks Liana's sump

Mentone Grammar School.

We were approached by Henderson and Lodge Architects to provide a 4.5m3 aquarium system to complement the schools new science department.

We wanted to provide the school with a system that was not only beautiful to look at but could also be used as a valuable teacher training aid for the science departments.

These aquariums are not filtered traditionally and rely on Reefscape Australia's unique approach and the fauna and flora found in natural ecosystems to filter them. They feature Reefscape Australia Fresh Water Live Rock (a new product) which in part helps Teachers and Students alike can take water samples, place them under a microscope and observe the ecology found in natural fresh water systems. These systems also illustrate the importance of the preservation of the various biotopes responsible for maintaining the quality of water found in our rivers and lakes. For those who know about aquariums these aquariums did not "cycle" and were nearly fully stocked in one hit - as far as we know this is only possible and safe do so when using Reefscape Australia products and techniques. On our last visit some six weeks after set up - Amonia 0, Nitrite 0 and Nitrate 0 - lots of happy fish, plants and critters to observe.
